Seminar on The applications of Satellite NDVI to Forest and Rice Management
The International Program Office, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF) successfully organised the Seminar on The applications of Satellite NDVI to Forest and Rice Management which represented by Prof. Tang Huang-Lin, Center for Space and Remote Sensing Research –National Central University (NCU). It was held on Wednesday, August 17, 2017 in the central house-TUAF.
Duong Van Thao- Director of International Program Office, Dr. Nguyen Quang Thi-Lecturer of Faculty of Resource Management, Nguyen Van Hieu-Director of Geoinformatics Center, TUAF and AEP students attended seminar.
Prof. Tang Huang-Lin –National Central University (NCU)
Prof. Tang Huang-Lin, Center for Space and Remote Sensing Research–National Central University (NCU), opening his talk by emphasising the importance of application of remote sensing. He said NDVI has become a well-known indicator to describe the situation of vegetated land cover for satellite observation. It is very useful to identify land cover types: urban, rural area, especially if it uses daily map. It can be very easy to assess the change of vegetable land cover by the time. The application of remote sensing can reduce cost and human resources in environmental management.
In the summer, NDVI value is not much different compare to winter season after Radiometric correction. Satellite data like SPOT can provide successfully information for forest classifications and rice forecast because of high resolution of satellite data.
